“Nothing of me is original, I am the combined effort of everybody I’ve ever known.” – Chuck Palahniuk
Chuck Palahniuk is the author of “Fight Club,” “Choke,” “Survivor,” “Damned” and many more novels written for adult males. He may not be the first choice to search for a lesson for ones daughter, but stay with me.
Lesson: The new lesson I’ve taken from it is that you ARE original, because of everyone you know. You owe it to everyone you’ve met in your life for giving you exactly what it takes to be you.So I’ve read this quote before a few times as it is from an author I really enjoy and I’ve always taken it as ‘You are not original’. That in itself is a grim thought. It has made it east to skip over it and not put too much thought into it. And then I came across it in close proximity to an image that said “You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with, choose wisely,” and it gave it a new life for me.
It takes on a whole new life when you think of it like this.
