This is your LIFE.
If you’re not familiar with the term, a Manifesto is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer.” This post is to highlight and discuss the Holstee Manifesto in particular.
The Holstee Manifesto, which you can purchase on their site has seen a huge amount of traffic since Pinterest, but has been around since the summer of 2009 when Mike, Fabian and Dave, the Holstee founders sat down to write down everything they wanted their new side-project to stand for. What came out is a massively empowering message that resonates with everyone who has ever worked too hard, too long or for the wrong reasons. What came out was, The Holstee Manifesto, as seen to the right.
Lesson: There are honestly dozen of simple lessons spelled out in the manifesto itself: “If you don’t like something, change it… Start doing things you love… Some opportunities only come once, seize them.” I could go on and spell out the whole manifesto, but you really should read it here.
The real lesson I want to teach my daughter (an whomever will listen) is that they should write something they stand for.
I have been working on this for some time and it varies a lot over the course of my life. In the past is has been a drawing that I was trying to obtain, a goal and reason and now it has become just a phrase. But to be honest, it isn’t half as good as the Holstee Manifesto is… yet. I will get there and it will resonate perfectly for me, and that is what I would like to teach; that it will get there, you just need to write it and live it.
